Children's Museum gets Clowns for Clown Week
For Clown Week, Lulu the Clown participated
in an event organized by Alley 51 members of
New Jersey at the Dover Children's Museum
located in Dover, NJ.
On hand were almost 20 clowns performing
skits, face painting, balloon twisting, and
sharing joy and laughter with all who
attended. They were: Bonky, Pollydoodle,
Ruthie, Jo-Joe, Hanky Panky, Shorty, Mr.
Manners, Kandy Kane, Snooky, Merriloons,
Cookie, Lulu, Tweedles, Jinxx, Dandy Dan,
BoJ, Magic and Oopsie Dazee.
The event lasted from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. and
there was a steady flow of traffic the entire
day. Lulu's company, Lulu Laughalot
Entertainment, sponsored a group of 15
children from a local church summer camp who
would not have otherwise been able to attend.
The museum indicated that the turnout was far
more than they had expected and were totally
thrilled with the results. The museum also
dedicated an entire wall of the museum to
coloring pages of various clowns that had
participated. Pretty cool, eh!

More clown week happenings
For clown week, Marion "MLE" Lovig and her
sister, Janice "Patches" Linblad , taught a
class at a Children's Sunday School Workshop
on the art of Christian Clowning. It was at
an Evangelical Free Church of America in West
Haven, CT. She attended the
workshops and during the break she put on her
costume and make-up and her sister hid behind
a poster and they did The Lord's Prayer skit.
Then they talked about what they do and
where, etc.

Let's Call It "Pebbles in the Pond" Effect
This comes from one of our responders who
wishes to remain anonymous but it's too good
a story not to share.
About a month ago this clown was speaking to
a group about the Power of Laughter. After
his talk he clowned around a bit, made some
balloons and spoke about Red Nose Response.
The group gave a donation of $100 to Red Nose
Response.
But wait, it gets better and here is the
"pebbles in the pond effect". A few days
ago, while making balloons for another event,
a man came up to him and said "Hey, aren't
you the guy who told about Red Nose
Response?" When our clown acknowledged that
he was, the guy said he thought the
organization was wonderful and he gave the
clown a few bills to go to the cause.
Ever curious, our clown asked the man how he
knew about Red Nose Response. The answer will
get you. He said "I am a cook at the
restaurant where you were telling about Red
Nose Response and I heard what you were saying."
Our clown finishes the story this way. "I
thanked him and he disappeared. I stuffed
the bills in my pocket. When I got home and
emptied my pockets, I counted out the bills
he gave me...$75.00." This is a great
example of how much of an effect you can have
on others and how much people appreciate
everything you do for others.
