Children's Museum gets Clowns for Clown Week
Dover, NJ
Dover clowns

For Clown Week, Lulu the Clown participated in an event organized by Alley 51 members of New Jersey at the Dover Children's Museum located in Dover, NJ.

On hand were almost 20 clowns performing skits, face painting, balloon twisting, and sharing joy and laughter with all who attended. They were: Bonky, Pollydoodle, Ruthie, Jo-Joe, Hanky Panky, Shorty, Mr. Manners, Kandy Kane, Snooky, Merriloons, Cookie, Lulu, Tweedles, Jinxx, Dandy Dan, BoJ, Magic and Oopsie Dazee.

The event lasted from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. and there was a steady flow of traffic the entire day. Lulu's company, Lulu Laughalot Entertainment, sponsored a group of 15 children from a local church summer camp who would not have otherwise been able to attend.

The museum indicated that the turnout was far more than they had expected and were totally thrilled with the results. The museum also dedicated an entire wall of the museum to coloring pages of various clowns that had participated. Pretty cool, eh!

Making a difference

LuLu the Clown, a.k.a. Teresa "Lulu" Mendoza did face painting with the Dover clowns at the Children's Museum for clown week. The children were very pleasantly surprised with their art work from LuLu. She created a warm and wonderful feeling with the full faces.

During Clown Week, members of the Electric City Clowns were presented with a proclamation by the Town Supervisor in Clifton Park, NY.

Barbara "Sparky" Bird, here pictured as "Addy-Tude", was given the opportunity to share information about both Red Nose Response and the Red Cross "Safe and Well" program as she spoke to the town board and the public.

Pictured with the Supervisor were "Jazzy", "Smoothee", "Addy-Tude" and "Mischief".

Let's Call It "Pebbles in the Pond" Effect
You never know...

This comes from one of our responders who wishes to remain anonymous but it's too good a story not to share.

About a month ago this clown was speaking to a group about the Power of Laughter. After his talk he clowned around a bit, made some balloons and spoke about Red Nose Response. The group gave a donation of $100 to Red Nose Response.

But wait, it gets better and here is the "pebbles in the pond effect". A few days ago, while making balloons for another event, a man came up to him and said "Hey, aren't you the guy who told about Red Nose Response?" When our clown acknowledged that he was, the guy said he thought the organization was wonderful and he gave the clown a few bills to go to the cause.

Ever curious, our clown asked the man how he knew about Red Nose Response. The answer will get you. He said "I am a cook at the restaurant where you were telling about Red Nose Response and I heard what you were saying."

Our clown finishes the story this way. "I thanked him and he disappeared. I stuffed the bills in my pocket. When I got home and emptied my pockets, I counted out the bills he gave me...$75.00." This is a great example of how much of an effect you can have on others and how much people appreciate everything you do for others.

If you know of any RNR responders who have not received this e-zine please forward it to them and ask them to send their contact information to info@rednoseresponse.org
